A Starting Point for Conventional Pressure Filtration

Recessed plates form the chambers

Facing recesses create space for the cake, without separate chamber-forming frames. Select the plate pack and cloth for the material and filtration duty.

No membrane squeeze stage

A conventional chamber press does not add membrane squeezing. Compare it first when pressure filtration alone can meet the required cake and production conditions.

Operation matched to the workload

Closing, plate opening, cake discharge and cloth cleaning can involve different levels of operator assistance. Confirm functions individually rather than relying only on the label “automatic”.

Recessed Chamber Filter Press Model Specifications

Compare filtration area, chamber volume and the complete operating cycle together. Models below are grouped by their XMY code family, not by an inferred plate dimension.

Before specifying a model: The published table has shared cells and some model codes do not match its plate-size values. Highlighted plate sizes and the shared 2.2 kW motor value need confirmation against the selected machine drawing. Values below reproduce the source rather than assuming a correction.

Table filtration pressure is ≤0.6 MPa (≤6 bar). It is not the hydraulic closing pressure. Swipe within each table on smaller screens.

How a Recessed Chamber Press Works

A recessed chamber press is a batch filtration machine. The feed pump provides the pressure for filtration; the closing system keeps the plate pack sealed during the cycle.

01

Close & feed

Close and secure the plate pack, then introduce slurry through the selected feed arrangement. Confirm the required valve positions and operating limits for the equipment.

02

Form the cake

Liquid passes through the filter medium and retained solids build a cake in the chambers. Feed conditions, cloth and cake resistance influence filtration time.

03

Depressurize & discharge

End the filtration cycle and verify depressurization according to the operating procedure before opening. Shift the plates, remove cake and clean as required.

Cake washing, air blow, automatic discharge and conveyors depend on the proposed configuration. They are not assumed to be included on every model.

Plate Pack, Filter Cloth & Automation

Recessed plates

Supplier filter-plate photograph. Verify the exact plate style and dimensions for the selected model.

Specify the plate and cloth for the actual slurry

Recessed plates form fixed-volume chambers. The plate material, seals where fitted, filter cloth and connection arrangement must suit the chemistry, temperature, solids and cleaning method.

A broad pH range or material name is not a complete compatibility check. Define the chemical composition, concentration and operating temperature before specifying the wetted parts.

Closing & pressure holding

Confirm whether closing is manual or hydraulic, how the closing force is maintained and what controls or interlocks are included.

Plate shifting & cake handling

Discuss manual or powered plate opening, cake release behavior, drip trays and any conveyor. Confirm operator tasks and maintenance access.

Cleaning & process controls

Define cloth cleaning, feed-pump control, filtrate routing and any washing sequence. List each included function in the quotation.

Automation can reduce manual steps while the filtration process remains cyclic. The listed motor power is not a substitute for a utility schedule covering pumps and other accessories.

Choose Around the Material and Required Result

Wastewater & industrial sludge

Start with sludge source, solids concentration, conditioning and the required cake-handling or disposal conditions.

Stone, ceramics & sand washing

Review mineral fines, feed variability, water reuse and the required production schedule before selecting the plate pack.

Mining & mineral processing

Account for particle behavior, abrasiveness, dry solids loading and filtrate recovery. Use representative process data.

Recessed Chamber or Membrane?

Choose the simplest configuration that meets the defined process requirement. A membrane stage is worth evaluating when measured additional dewatering or cake-handling benefits justify its equipment and utility requirements.

Questions Before Ordering a Chamber Press

Is recessed chamber the same as plate and frame?

No. Facing recesses in the plates form chamber volume in a recessed press. A traditional plate-and-frame arrangement uses separate frames. Filter media, process duty and the actual machine design determine which configuration is appropriate.

Is the listed ≤0.6 MPa pressure the hydraulic pressure?

No. The supplier table labels it filtration pressure. The plate-closing system has its own hydraulic pressure and force requirements. Confirm the ratings and controls for the selected machine.

Why do some plate sizes differ from the model code?

The published table contains those differences and shared cells. The reference values are marked here for confirmation. Request the current technical drawing and confirmed plate dimensions before ordering.

Can this press operate throughout the day?

Repeated batch operation can be planned around the duty and configuration. Available operating hours must include filling, filtration, depressurization, opening, cake discharge and cleaning; automatic plate shifting does not turn it into continuous filtration.

What cake moisture and capacity can I expect?

Performance depends on the slurry, conditioning, filter medium and complete cycle. Define throughput with units and the desired cake condition, then compare representative testing or documented operation.

What should be included in a quotation?

Confirm the full model, plate dimensions, chamber volume, pressure ratings, motors, feed pump, automation, installation space, inspection and delivery scope. Agree the current warranty and support terms in the offer.
