Define the Frame Covering and the Wetted Parts Separately

Stainless protection around the supporting structure
The stainless steel coated, or clad, configuration uses stainless covering on frame surfaces. The supplier describes SS304/316 covering and reinforced polypropylene filter plates. The covering and the filtration surfaces serve different functions.
Frame protection should be selected for external exposure, splashes and the cleaning routine. The filter plates, cloth, seals, ports, pipework and pump must be reviewed against the material they actually contact.
Ask for a drawing that identifies covered and exposed components, the supporting frame material, stainless grade, thickness, joints, drainage and inspection access.
Coverage schedule
List the beams, supports, head plates, hydraulic components and other parts that require covering. Define included protection and exposed areas in the quotation.
Media & flow path
Confirm PP plate type, filter cloth, seals, manifolds, valves and feed pump. Stainless frame covering does not establish chemical compatibility for the entire flow path.
Cleaning & inspection
Review cleaning agents, rinsing, access around joints and how damaged covering is inspected or repaired. Define a maintenance procedure for the installed equipment.
Published XMY Model Specifications
Use the supplier’s XMY table as a starting point for area, chamber volume and installation planning. The same table is also used for recessed chamber presses; it does not establish the final weight, dimensions or included equipment of every coated build.
Check the highlighted values before selection. The supplier’s plate-size entries differ from the model codes in the /450, /630 and /1000 families. The shared 2.2 kW motor value also needs confirmation for the selected equipment. Source values are retained below.
Published filtration pressure: ≤0.6 MPa (≤6 bar). This is separate from hydraulic closing pressure. On a phone, swipe within each table to see all columns.

Hydraulic Closing with a Batch Filtration Cycle
The supplier lists hydraulic pressing and automatic controls. Specify the actual closing, monitoring, plate-shifting and cake-handling functions included in the proposal.
01
Close & feed
Secure the plate pack using the specified closing system. Introduce slurry within the approved filtration limits.
02
Filter & collect
Liquid passes through the filter cloth while solids accumulate. Monitor pressure and filtrate conditions until the defined process endpoint.
03
Open & discharge
Stop feed and verify depressurization before opening. Remove cake and clean or inspect the cloth and covered structure as required.
Frame cladding does not add membrane squeezing, continuous cake discharge or a higher pressure rating. Quote any additional process function separately.
Compare the Covering, Plate Material and Process Requirements
| Selection point | Coated frame configuration | Stainless plate configurations |
|---|---|---|
| Primary focus | Frame covering and external exposure, with a PP plate pack as described for this product. | Stainless filter plate construction, with frame and other materials confirmed by component. |
| Chemical compatibility | Review the covering against external conditions and each wetted part against the feed and cleaning duty. | Review the stainless grade, medium, seals and connections against the same process conditions. |
| Quotation comparison | Compare the same filtration duty, coverage, accessories, automation and documentation. | Confirm which components are solid stainless, covered or another material before comparing price. |
For the underlying chamber filtration arrangement, see the recessed chamber filter press. Similar model codes do not confirm identical cladding, accessories or supply scope.
Review the Exposure Conditions as Well as the Slurry
Chemical processing
For dyes, pigments, salts and other chemical slurries, provide the chemical composition, concentration, temperature and exposure around the frame.
Wastewater & sludge
For chemical, electroplating or other industrial wastewater, describe the sludge, conditioning chemicals, solids loading and cleaning routine.
Food & process liquids
Where cleanability matters, define the product-contact path, contact materials, required finish and cleaning method. A stainless exterior alone does not establish hygiene compliance.
Select grades and materials using the actual chemistry and temperature. A pH value or the label “stainless” is not enough to confirm suitability for acids, chlorides, solvents or cleaning agents.
Stainless Steel Coated Filter Press FAQs
Does stainless steel coated mean the whole machine is stainless steel?
No. It describes a covering configuration. Specify the structural frame material, covering grade and thickness, covered components and wetted materials individually.
Are the filter plates stainless steel or polypropylene?
The product attributes and advantages specify PP or reinforced PP plates, while one supplier paragraph refers to coated plates. This page follows the stated PP specification; confirm the plate material and construction in the final quotation.
Can I specify SS316L instead of SS304?
State the required grade for the actual exposure conditions. The supplier names SS304/316 for the covering; SS316L availability, component coverage and material documentation require confirmation.
Will a scratch expose the material under the covering?
A shallow mark may remain within the stainless surface, but deep damage, openings or failed joints can compromise the covering. Inspect damage and follow the agreed repair procedure; no scratch-proof or permanently sealed claim is assumed.
How much cheaper is it than a solid stainless machine?
There is no verified fixed saving percentage. Compare quotations with the same filtration duty, material schedule, covering details, automation, accessories and documentation.
Does the coating make it suitable for every corrosive slurry?
No. Frame protection and wetted-part compatibility are separate checks. Review feed chemistry, concentration, temperature, cleaning agents, plate material, cloth, seals and the complete flow path.
