Define What Is Stainless Steel in the Proposed Machine
Supplier photographs of plate-pack and connection details. Confirm the offered construction by drawing and material schedule.
Stainless plates and a covered structural frame
The supplier describes stainless steel filter plates and a carbon-steel frame covered with stainless steel. This construction should be distinguished from a machine specified with a fully stainless structural frame.
Request a component-by-component material schedule covering plates, frames where used, manifolds, fittings, seals and any feed pump. Confirm the grade and documentation for each product-contact component.
The supplier introduction names S.S.304 or S.S.316 plates, while another paragraph names S.S.303/316. Confirm the actual grade in the quotation. Stainless steel alone does not establish compatibility with every chemical or compliance with a particular hygiene requirement.
BASJL Model Specifications
Use the table to compare the published plate sizes, plate counts and dimensions. Listed flow depends on the feed and filtration conditions; confirm the measurement basis and achievable duty for your material.
Value requiring confirmation: BASJL400-8.5 is published with a filter area of 85 m². The model code suggests a possible decimal discrepancy. The source value is highlighted below and has not been silently changed; obtain the confirmed value before selecting this model.

*Flow is reproduced with the supplier’s label “T/h”; feed properties, test conditions and mass/volume basis are not stated. Do not convert it to m³/h without the required basis. **The supplier labels the size column “Dimension(mm)” without specifying axis order. Confirm the installation drawing, dimensional order and service clearances.

Match Filter Media and Wetted Materials to the Duty
Filtration objective
Define what must be removed and the required filtrate quality. Select the medium and operating arrangement for the actual suspension, solids loading and acceptable product loss.
Material compatibility
State chemistry, concentration, temperature and cleaning agents. Review chloride exposure and seals as well as the stainless grade; a pH value alone is not a complete specification.
Scope of supply
Confirm closing system, feed pump, manifolds, pressure limits, electrical supply, instruments, connection standards and any cleaning accessories in the quotation.
Media type, filtration rating, surface finish and cleaning functions must be specified for the offered equipment. No universal micron rating, temperature limit or sterile-filtration claim is assumed here.
A Filtration Cycle with Planned Cake Removal
The supplier describes feed entering chambers formed by plates and frames, liquid passing through the medium and retained solids being removed after a filtration cycle.
01
Assemble & close
Install the specified filter medium and plate pack, then close and secure the assembly according to the equipment procedure.
02
Feed & collect filtrate
Feed the liquid or slurry within the approved limits. Monitor the process and collect filtrate according to the required quality and routing.
03
Depressurize & clean
End the cycle, verify depressurization and open as instructed. Remove retained solids, inspect the medium and clean before the next duty.
Hydraulic closing holds the assembly together; it is not a membrane squeezing stage. Specify any additional process function separately.
Review the Product and Filtration Requirement
Food & beverage processing
Discuss the liquid or slurry, retained solids, required clarity, contact materials and cleaning method. Equipment suitability must be assessed for the particular product and process.
Chemical & process liquids
Specify chemical composition, concentration, temperature and required separation. Include the cleaning chemicals and any compatibility or containment requirements.
For pharmaceutical or other controlled processes, define documentation, finish, cleaning and validation requirements before ordering. Material selection alone does not establish process compliance.
Specify Cleaning and Inspection Requirements
Access & cleaning method
Review dismantling, draining, inspection access and the intended cleaning method. Confirm whether any clean-in-place provision is actually included.
Finish & documentation
If surface roughness, material certificates or specific inspection documents are required, state them in the enquiry and verify the scope offered.
Media, seals & residues
Inspect the filter medium, sealing surfaces and retained residues. Replacement frequency and cleaning conditions should follow the material and operating duty.
Compare the Actual Construction, Not Only the Product Name
“Stainless steel,” “plate and frame” and “clad” can describe different aspects of a filter press. Compare drawings, wetted materials, filter media and the included equipment when reviewing related products.
Questions Before Ordering a Stainless Steel Filter Press
Is the complete frame made from stainless steel?
The reference supplier describes stainless filter plates and a stainless-covered carbon-steel frame. A fully stainless frame must be explicitly specified and confirmed if the project requires it.
Should I choose 304, 316 or another grade?
Choose from the actual chemistry, concentration, temperature, cleaning method and component duty. Confirm the exact grade and material documentation in the quotation rather than relying on the stainless steel label alone.
Does stainless steel mean GMP or FDA compliance?
No blanket compliance claim follows from the material. Define the applicable process, materials, finish, cleaning and documentation requirements, then verify the equipment and supporting evidence for that scope.
Is the listed flow a guaranteed capacity?
The source does not state feed properties or test conditions. Confirm the flow basis and performance with your liquid, solids and filter medium; the published values are not universal guarantees.
What is the confirmed area of BASJL400-8.5?
The source currently lists 85 m², while the model name contains 8.5. This discrepancy must be resolved with the supplier. No correction has been assumed in the reference table.
Can the press provide sterile filtration or a fixed micron rating?
Those results depend on the selected medium, equipment, operating conditions and the required validation. Specify the actual separation requirement and obtain evidence for the proposed arrangement.
