The Jack Closes the Plate Pack; the Feed System Drives Filtration
Supplier examples of manual presses and closing arrangements. Confirm the exact jack, retaining method and included equipment for the selected model.
Specify the closing arrangement by model
The supplier describes hand-operated hydraulic closing. The closing device moves the pressure head and holds the plate pack together during filtration. Confirm the offered mechanism and its holding or locking procedure.
Slurry enters the closed chambers from the feed system. Liquid passes through the filter medium while retained solids form cake. The jack does not replace the feed pump or provide a membrane-squeezing stage.
Manual closing can suit duties where operator involvement is acceptable. Review plate movement, cake discharge, cleaning and monitoring as well as the effort needed to close the press.
Closing and holding
Request the operating instructions, required closing conditions, holding arrangement and checks before feed starts. Do not infer a jack rating or locking method from the model name.
Feed and utilities
Define the pump, pressure control, piping and filtrate route. A hand-operated closing device does not make the complete installation independent of electricity, compressed air or other utilities.
Operator access
Provide clear access for opening, plate handling, cake collection and cloth work. Confirm handling aids where plate mass or the operating schedule requires them.
XMQ Manual Jack Filter Press Specifications
Models are grouped by their code family. Published plate dimensions differ from those family codes; the table preserves the supplier’s values for confirmation against the selected machine drawing.
Confirm plate sizes and installation data. The /320, /450 and /630 families list 380 × 380, 500 × 500 and 700 × 700 mm plates respectively. XMQ15/630 and XMQ20/630 also share the same listed overall dimensions despite different plate counts. Highlighted entries have not been silently corrected.

A Manual Closing Press Still Needs a Complete Operating Procedure
01
Inspect and close
Inspect the cloth, plates, sealing faces and closing mechanism. Assemble and secure the plate pack using the procedure for the supplied jack and machine.
02
Feed and monitor
Feed slurry within the confirmed filtration limits. Monitor the process and closing condition as instructed; investigate leakage or loss of holding condition before continuing.
03
Stop and discharge
Stop and isolate the feed, then release and verify process pressures before opening. Remove cake, inspect the cloth and clean for the next batch.
Maintain the jack, hydraulic parts where fitted, moving contacts, frame, cloth and plates according to the supplied instructions. Manual equipment still requires inspection and maintenance; training time and operator effort depend on the actual installation.
Choose Manual or Powered Closing Around the Workload
| Decision point | Manual jack arrangement | Powered arrangement |
|---|---|---|
| Closing task | An operator works the specified jack or hand mechanism. | A powered system performs the specified closing functions. |
| Production schedule | Review batch frequency, operator availability and the time spent handling plates and cake. | Evaluate powered functions when measured workload or cycle requirements justify them. |
| Utilities and maintenance | Confirm the feed system, required utilities and jack maintenance. | Include power, controls, hydraulic equipment and their service requirements. |
| Future changes | Assess the existing frame, closing force, stroke, plate supports and controls before a retrofit. | Specify the required future functions in the original equipment proposal where practical. |
Duties to Evaluate for Manual Operation
Small-batch process work
Review the slurry, batch size, required filtrate quality and available operator time. Compare area and chamber volume with the complete operating cycle.
Trials and changing materials
For test work or changing feed conditions, define the data required and the cleaning procedure between batches. Confirm that the press can reproduce the intended test duty.
Wastewater and process slurries
Assess solids concentration, conditioning, cake handling and filtrate routing. Manual closing alone does not establish suitability for a particular chemical or temperature.
Manual Jack Filter Press FAQs
Does the jack produce the filtration pressure?
The jack secures the plate pack. The feed system introduces slurry and provides the pressure difference that drives filtration. The supplier table lists filtration pressure ≤0.6 MPa; the closing device has separate operating requirements.
Is the jack mechanical or hydraulic?
The reference supplier describes hand-operated hydraulic closing. Confirm the actual mechanism, holding method and operating instructions for the proposed XMQ model; the product name or a photograph is not a complete closing-system specification.
Does the complete press need no electricity?
Hand closing does not establish the utilities for the feed pump or accessories. Review the proposed pump, controls and any compressed-air or electrical requirements for the complete installation.
How is the plate pack held during filtration?
Use the holding or locking arrangement specified for the supplied equipment. Confirm the inspection and monitoring procedure with the manufacturer; do not assume every jack has the same locking nut or pressure-retention method.
Why do the plate sizes differ from the model codes?
The supplier table lists 380×380, 500×500 and 700×700 mm for the /320, /450 and /630 code families. Those published values are retained and marked for confirmation against the current plate and machine drawings.
Can it be upgraded to powered closing later?
A retrofit requires an engineering review of the frame, head plates, closing force, stroke, supports, connections and controls. Neither compatibility nor impossibility can be established from the manual-jack label alone.
